I eventually want to get a motorcycle after college, probably when I’m more financially secure in a job. I don’t know much about bikes, but I’m pretty sure I want a Harley Sportster. I’m 23, about 5′6" (with shoes on) and 142 lbs. Is a sportster something I can handle weight/heightwise? Also, I’ve been told it’s not a good idea to buy a brand new bike when you are a new rider. If so, should I look for a cheaper used sportster in case it gets too damaged, or buy a "in good condition" used sportster for my first bike? And one more question: What is the best way to learn? I was thinking of the Harley riding school but it is pretty expensive, plus I don’t have any friends who ride.

Approx. 10 years ago there was a company up north offering a kit car that was powered by a Harley sportster engine. I remember it being a street legal two seater convertible. It was advertised in American Iron and/ or a short running mag called Hot XL magazine. I of course used to have all of these magazines, but they got gone over the years. If anyone has any info on the company (no longer in business I assume), anyone who has one of these cars, or even the name of the car, etc. I would appreciate it. I did see one for sale a couple of years ago on Ebay, but now I can’t find anything. It’s like it never existed and I know it did! Thanks in advance……

I have 1997 buell with a harley sportster 1200cc engine in it. It has lost compression to the point that it has only 100psi front cylinder and 50psi rear. It has only 10,000 miles on it. BOOOOO!
How much would a top end rebuild cost ?

I was going to buy a 1995 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 from a friend for 00. I told him it looked good but we haven’t finalized the deal.
Another friend just told me he will let me have his 1996 Harley Sportster 883 dressed with a windshield highway bars and Saddlebags for ,000.
I am not sure wich to buy. For one thing I don’t want to go back on a committment, although we havn’t shook on the deal.
I am not sure I could handle a sportster. I am upgrading from riding dirt bikes.
I am thinking the Vulcan is a good intermediary step.
But I have to admit the Sportster is a sweet looking machine.

I will be inheriting a 1977 harley sportster from my uncle who passed. I have never owned a harley as I have only owned sports bikes, and I am having trouble finding information on this bike. Anyone know of good websites with info and parts for this bike. I would like to replace certain pieces that have rust and what not on them. Any info on this bike would be helpful
Thanks
Is this a good bike? How would you rate it overall? I would like to make it really nice (has been sitting a long time, but runs great) Does this bike have any value? I do not want to put too much into it if it is only worth 500 bucks. I could just use it as is. Thanks again
I am not going to sell it because I would like to keep it in the family.

I’ve been looking and I really like the look of the bonneville. I also like the 2003 Suziki Marauder, SV650 or the Harley Sportster. I’m looking at used because I don’t want to spend a lot of money. Everyone I would ride with has a cruiser, so I don’t want to get the 650. The triumph is my favorite as far as looks, but I don’t know alot about motorcycles and it has a chain. Is that bad?
Any suggestions or comments on the Bonneville?

Hello. I am wondering if anyone may know what the "data link connection" on a Harley (Sportster) is designed to do. Also, is the "data link connection" found on all the bikes in the current Harley lineup. Finally, will a Harley still be drivable without the "data link connection"? Thanks.
