Why is gas leaking out of the tail pipes of my Kawasaki Vulcan?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

I have a 2000 Vulcan VN 800-A. That has been spitting and sputtering, then i noticed smoke coming out of the pipes when i killed it. It was from gas. I had to drain the tank because gas is continuing to leak out. It runs fine as long as i give alot of throttle. So what is causing this problem any ideas? Thanks

I just got a motorcycle that was not winterized this winter. What do I do to get it ready this summer?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I just came into a 1973 Yamaha 650TX. The bike was not winterized in any way over this past winter. It was left in a garage with about 1/2 tank of gas in temperatures as low as 10 degrees on a few days. So what should I do to prep the bike for the summer?

Can someone tell me if the tank and ignition key for a 1998 kawasaki zx11 are the same?

I need a key made for the bike but would like to just take the tank key bit out and take it to the locksmith if they are the same key it would then work for the ignition, and no i cant take out the ignition at least i dont want to its hard to get to.

1986 Yamaha Radian Enrichment Curcuit Problem?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I’m happy to say that I’m the proud owner of a 1986
Yamaha Radian motorcycle (5000 miles). I live
in Florida; and, when I try to start the bike (50 degree weather) with the
enrichment circuit engaged, it doesn’t want to start.
When I get home and the weather is about 65, it starts
but is
a little hesitant. I have to play with the throttle a
little to keep it started-once started, runs smoothly. I
disassembled the starter set/”choke” (took the plungers and springs
out and inspected everything)–seems fine. I’ve even
run some carburetor
cleaner through a tank of gas. When the bike is idling
normally and I engage the enrichment circuit, the RPMs
increase to about 5000; then, within a matter of about
3 seconds, they decrease to its normal idle
speed. When I immediately engage the circuit again,
the RPMs race only to
about 2000. I can see that the enrichment circuit is
fully engaged each time. Could this be an idle mixture problem, if so, the prognosis?

Motorcycle fuel flow. 1989 Yamaha Radian. Tank does not flow on it’s own. Is that normal? or is that my prob?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

My bike currently can not run off of choke. If I go even a tad bit off of choke, the bikes revs will go up and down and then die. Sounded like a fuel flow issue to me or a carb issue.

I was examining the lines, and the inline fuel filter to see if I could find the culprit.
When I took the tank off, no gas came out of the petcock. There is no ‘off’ setting on my petcock, just a main, prime, and reserve. On any of these three settings, no fuel leaks out of the tank at all.

I was planning on taking the carbs off this weekend and soaking them in some solution for a week to clean em up, but if this sounds like it is the culprit, I will see what fixing the tank will do for the bike before resorting to the carbs.

Is it normal for a tank with gas in it, removed from a bike completely, to not leak any gas at all, even on prime which shouldn’t need a vacuum?

Also, any suggestions on what I should try this weekend would be great. This is my girlfriends bike now, and I want it to be running well before I cut her loose on it. Thanks in advance.
Thanks peter455. Our local dealer sucks, so I avoid them at all costs.
I will be taking a look at the petcock tonight after work and see if I find an obstruction. If that doesn’t help, I will soak the carbs.

Anybody else have thoughts on this?

Anyone leave fuel in Kawasaki PWC all winter and not able to start it?

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I have a 2000 Kawasaki ZXi 1100 that I didn’t remove the fuel from last Fall like I should have. Now it won’t start. I put stabilizer in it in November, but by then it already wouldn’t start and I don’t think what I put in the tank was able to work it’s way through to the carbs. Does anyone know what is involved in getting it to run again? Also, if I drain ther old gas, what can I do with it to get rid of the fuel? Thanks for your help.

I want to paint my Kawasaki Ninja. How do i prepare the plastic body for painting?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I have a purple ninja 500. I have some downtime during the winter and i want to paint my bike black, and have a simple yellow design on the tank. I have the basics on painting the tank. But I have no idea how to prep the plastic body.

Has anybody had any problems with their Kawasaki Ninja 250 at low rpm?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

I have a Kawasaki Ninja 250 and it doesn’t run good under 4000 rpm. Above that it works fine. If you let it idle down then try to accelerate it’s like it loads up with fuel. Once the rpms go past 4000 it cleans out and runs fine. Also it doesn’t idle smoothly. It only has 55 miles on it and has good gas in the tank.

Has anyone out there got a Workshop Manual for a 2000 Aprilia SR50 Ditech Scooter please? ?

Worshop Manuual preferred but diagrams will do!
Need to know where Fuel Pipes connect to from Tank, and which Connector connects to Injection Unit.
(There are two identical squarish Connectors with wire clips on them).
When either one is connected to Pump, a Red light on Dashboard flashes and states "Injection Check"
Is this normal?
There is no Petrol in tank at moment.

How do I stop a leak from the fuel tank of my 2000 Aprilia Pegaso!!!???

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Some dumb technician put a bolt that was too long in and punctured the tank. Any ideas?
What kind of putty? I believe the inside of the tank has some kind of plastic coating, or the part on the tank may itself be plastic.
